Do I ever pay Podium directly?
No. There's no fee, no subscription, and no charge for your review, whether you switch carriers or not. We're paid by the carrier you choose through Podium.
Does using a broker make my insurance more expensive?
No. The commission a carrier pays a broker is part of the rate the carrier already filed and priced, not an extra charge added on top for using Podium. You pay the same filed rate you'd pay going directly to that carrier.
Do you steer me to the carrier that pays you more?
No. We rank by price, lowest first, among carriers that write your policy and have given us a price you can buy on coverage equivalent to what you have now. If the right answer for you pays us less, or pays us nothing, it's the answer you get, and the carrier at the top sometimes pays us less than the one in second place. When the right answer is to keep the policy you came to us with, nobody pays us for that review, and we tell you anyway.
Why would you show me a carrier that pays you less?
Because the alternative, only showing you the option that pays us the most, is exactly the kind of hidden incentive Podium was built to get rid of. We rank every result by price, lowest first, among carriers that write your policy and have given us a price you can buy on coverage equivalent to what you have now, then show you all three, full stop.
What if my current policy is already the right one?
Then we tell you that. No charge, no obligation, and no follow-up call trying to talk you into switching anyway. Knowing you're not overpaying is valuable on its own, even when the honest answer is that you're already winning.
Can Podium get me every carrier, including the big names I see advertised?
Not quite. A handful of national carriers sell only direct to consumers — no independent broker, us included, can place you with them. If you're comfortable shopping on your own, it's worth checking their price directly. For the carriers we work with, we do the shopping for you — and if staying where you are is the better call, we'll tell you.
